Cooking with cold-pressed grape seed oil

In addition to grape seed oil being high in polyunsaturated fats, monounsaturated fats and anti-oxidants, its high smoking point of 242 degrees Celsius makes it an excellent choice for cooking.  Available in a variety of tasty flavours and infusions, it makes for healthy and cooking.  Inspired to be creative – share your favourite recipe with us!

Baby Potatoes with Garlic Oil
  • Cook potatoes; drain and then pour Garlic oil over
  • Make sure all the potatoes are thoroughly coated
  • Sprinkle with garlic salt & pepper
Crushed Rosemary Potatoes
  • Cook baby potatoes and then drain
  • Crush them lightly on either side with a fork
  • Fry in rosemary oil till crispy
Chilli Boerewors
  • Fry 1x large onion (roughly chopped) in Chilli oil
  • Add 500gr. boerewors, sliced in10cm pieces, and cook until nearly done
  • Add cooked baby potatoes cut in half
  • Serve with salad or veggies, or French loaf dipped into gravy
Chilli chicken, Potatoes, Beans
  • 800gr. chicken breasts cut into small pieces
  • 500gr. potatoes cut into thin wedges
  • Green beans – blanched
  • 1x large onion – chopped
  • 400ml coconut milk
  • Fresh coriander or basil

 

  • Cover bottom of pan with chilli oil and fry chicken quickly until almost done – then remove from heat
  • Fry onions lightly, add potatoes and simmer for 20 minutes
  • Add beans and chicken with juices
  • Add coconut milk and simmer till thickened
  • Garnish with basil or coriander
Courgette in Rosemary Oil
  • Warm rosemary oil in a pot
  • Add 1x large onion and 1 x tomato, roughly chopped and cook for a few minutes
  • Add Courgettes, sliced in fairly large pieces, and cook for a further 5min. or until slightly soft
  • Add mushrooms (optional)
  • Season with salt & pepper
  • Sprinkle with crumbed feta cheese before serving with a handful of chopped coriander leaves
Meatballs in Rosemary Oil
  • 500gr. mince
  • 1x small onion – finely chopped
  • Aromat, salt & pepper
  • 1x egg – beaten
  • Half cup breadcrumbs

 

  • Mix all ingredients and roll into small balls
  • Heat a generous amount of rosemary oil in a pan and fry till nearly cooked
  • Leave meatballs in the oil and reheat when ready to serve
  • Make a gravy with the pan juices and serve with mashed potatoes
